The National Board of Management authorized the organization of the Capitol Chapter in 2013, and within one month, the chapter had 25 members, with Cindy Hays as Orgaznizing Regent. Eleven of those members left the Descedants of '76 Chapter to form the new chapter with Mrs. Hays. 13 additional members were sworn in shortly thereafter. Their work in historic preservation, education, and patriotism advances the mission of the National Society Daugthers of the American Revolution and the District of Columbia Daughters of the American Revolution to honor the memory of our ancestors. ​

 

The name Capitol Chapter was used before for a chapter founded in 1916. It was formed as a landing place for aging out Children of the American Revolution members. The original chapter grew for a while, but in 1982, the last 19 members disbanded the chapter.

The new Capitol Chapter's over 100 members are from all over the country, but most live and work near the Capitol Hill area. Chapter projects focus on service to Veterans and historic preservation. ​

Capitol Chapter typically meets on the second Monday of every month (September–May). All prospective members and guests are welcome! For details on joining our chapter or attending a meeting, please contact us. ​​
